Is This The Future of Disputing Parking Tickets?
Fixed. Created by Dan Hegarty, David Sanghera and DJ Burdick, Fixed is a new mobile phone app that contests parking tickets on your behalf. Although it’s only available in San Francisco, Fixed has the possibility totransform how parking tickets are fought and processed all over the country. At first Fixed seems fairly complicated, but it’s actually pretty simple.
How It Works
- After signing up and entering your credit card details, type in the parking ticket violation.
- The application matches you with an attorney and calculates the probability of the ticket being dismissed, and then asks you to take pictures “as evidence.”
- Fixed then creates a contest letter (that you digitally sign), and mails it on your behalf.
- If you lose, you pay the parking ticket, but pay Fixed nothing. If your ticket gets dismissed, you only pay Fixed 25% of what the ticket would have cost.
Why It’s Awesome
Even though this app is still in beta mode, it has the possibility of revolutionizing how parking authorities and customers handle parking disputes. Not all motorists know what to do when they are issued a ticket, let alone how to deal with disputing a ticket. By having Fixed do most of the hard work, motorists only need to participate in a few simple actions to start the dispute.
And let’s be honest, no one particularly enjoys visiting a traffic judge to plead a case. Having an attorney advocate for the motorists could make the process less stressful. (And most of the time, these attorneys have a better understanding of the system than the customers do.)
Fixed is only in its infancy so it still has a long way to go. Regardless, the idea behind this app is sure to go a long way. While it is not yet available in cities besides San Francisco, it is sure to impact the way the parking industry thinks about the future.
