#TBT 8th & Filbert Garage
On November 26, 1962, construction began on our 8th & Filbert Street AutoPark Garage. Seated at the controls of a bulldozer, Philadelphia Parking Authority Chairman Max Raab is flanked by PPA Board member William Teefy (left) and Charles Nicholson, president of the Arch Street Businessmen’s Association.
Since 1962, the 8th and Filbert AutoPark Garage has housed 1,222 parking spaces. Nestled conveniently near Chinatown, it’s a prime parking location for visiting attractions such as the Gallery Mall, Washington Square, Independence National Park and the PA Convention Center which hosts events like the Philadelphia Car Show and the Flower Show.
We’re excited to announce that we’re transforming our 8th and Filbert AutoPark Garage into an eco-friendly parking oasis! Keep an eye on our blog to check out updates on the transformation process. In the meantime, check out this slideshow highlighting the upcoming changes!
