What to Do if Your Vehicle is Towed During the Papal Visit
Pope Francis will be visiting Philadelphia later this month during the World Meeting of Families Pilgrimage. The city has been preparing for his visit by setting up safety plans and identifying Security Perimeters. Be sure to review the Security Perimeters, and our detailed blog post about Where and How to Park During the Papal Visit, so you know where to park your car safely. If for some reason your vehicle is towed during the Papal visit, here’s what you need to know:
Vehicles parked within the designated Security Perimeter and Secured Vehicle Zone will be towed beginning on Sunday, September 20. Vehicles displaying a pre-purchased parking placard will have until 10:00 p.m. Thursday, September 24 to remove their vehicles and park in their designated garage. The Security Perimeter and Secured Vehicle Zone around the Benjamin Franklin Parkway will go into effect Thursday, September 24 at 10:00 p.m. Vehicles which are not removed will be towed and subject to a $76 fine, a $175 tow and storage fee(s).
Note: If your vehicle has been towed, please call 215-686-SNOW or 1-888-591-3636 and press 2 after hearing the language options. A map highlighting towing area schedules can be found here.
As a reminder, normal enforcement of parking violations will continue up until 10:00 p.m. on Friday September, 25. However, starting at 10 p.m. on Friday, September 25, our Parking Enforcement Officers (PEOs) will only be enforcing safety violations such as parking too close to the corner, double parking, parking too close to a crosswalk or fire hydrant, etc.
Time limits at meters and kiosks will not be enforced. Normal enforcement will resume on Monday, September 28.
