PPA’s Santa Express Brings Joy to Underprivileged Families
Welp, it’s that time of the year again. You know — that time where many of our employees dust off their elf costumes and play the role of Santa’s helpers for our annual holiday charity, Santa Express.
Here’s what happens: Throughout each year, the PPA and its employees raise funds to bring joy to underprivileged families throughout the Philly area. We’re talking everything from weekly raffles to employees donating toys.
Remember our decorated meters for Park(ing) Day? Well, they were also used to collect donations, so thanks to everyone who helped us raise over $10,000 for the cause!
Now the fun part: Yesterday our employees decked themselves out in Santa and elf costumes and loaded up vans with toys, food and clothing. After packing the vans (let’s just pretend they’re sleighs) fuller than Santa’s sack, our elves and Santas distributed the gifts to more than 60 underprivileged families throughout Philly.
Bill Raymond, our Senior Director of Human Resources and President of Santa Express, Inc., says, “Each year the enthusiasm for Santa Express grows and grows. It’s amazing to see the hard work our employees put into giving back to others, especially those who are less fortunate than others.”
In fact, this is the first year Santa Express has been added to Philadelphia’s United Way Donor Choice List. So if you’re a city employee and would like to make a donation to Santa Express, click here for more details. Who knows? With being added to the United Way Donor List, maybe next year we’ll be able to raise $20,000!
